Dealer towable sales grew 15 percent in March, according to analyst firm Robert W. Baird, citing Statistical Surveys. Retail growth through February and March is encouraging, and Baird said trends are consistent with its April dealer survey, as a mild winter and early start to spring supported demand.
Travel trailer registrations increased 17 percent in March, and fifth wheel sales grew 7 percent, according to Baird.
RV dealers continue stocking towable product ahead of the selling season, increasing channel inventory, the firm reported.
“We believe seasonal restocking is essentially complete, and look to spring demand to determine orders into summer,” Baird stated.
The seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of U.S. towable demand increased to 175,000 units in March, up from 172,000 units in February, according to the firm. Slightly more than 160,000 units were sold in the U.S. in 2011.
